An Ton Meditation Center Beautification

Volunteers from An Ton Meditation Center Bring Lotus Blossoms to McKee Road San Jose — December 6, 2025 — A cold Saturday morning marking the transition from autumn to winter did not deter the volunteers of An Ton Meditation Center from carrying out their community art project along McKee Road in East San Jose. Despite the chilly temperatures, volunteers arrived at the center before 7:20 a.m. to prepare supplies for painting lotus-themed designs on three utility boxes in the neighborhood. The early winter breeze was sharp and biting, yet the volunteers’ enthusiasm and compassion remained warm. Armed with brushes, paint, and a shared sense of purpose, the group set out to bring a touch of serenity and beauty to the area. After loading their materials, the team traveled to the intersection of Toyon and McKee Road, where they began setting up three designated painting spots. Throughout the morning, volunteers coordinated seamlessly—some mixing paint, others outlining designs, and many working directly on the boxes. Each participant contributed in their own way, embodying the spirit of collective effort. Within a few hours, the once plain gray utility boxes transformed into small garden-like displays. Softly blooming lotus flowers—symbols of peace, mindfulness, and renewal—appeared along McKee Road, brightening the streetscape and offering a sense of calm to passersby. The project not only enhanced the neighborhood’s visual appeal but also reflected the commitment of the local Vietnamese community to public service and cultural expression.
